Mission

Zan Wesley Holmes, Jr. Community Outreach Center is a nonprofit organization creating self-sustaining pathways out of poverty for young people and families in Dallas, Texas, through education, training and job placement.

Pathways to Help Create Economic Sustainability

Our organization focuses on three pathways to help create economic sustainability for our stakeholders. We offer programs in:

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

During the Covid-19 pandemic, ZWHJCOC provided technical assistance to almost 50 small businesses for the Payroll Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program, gathering more than $900,000 for its clients while preserving 89 jobs.

WORKFORCE PATHWAYS

Our Light Electrical (Low Voltage) Program is a 4-week job training program for individuals who are looking to get back into the workforce by learning an in-demand skill that will increase their opportunity to earn a livable wage. This program includes job skills training, personal growth training, such as Increments of Success financial planning, and emotional wellbeing sessions.

ASSET BUILDING

ZWHJCOC offers three financial literacy classes. Cash Flow, Collateral and Leverage sessions teach about the economy and financial assets to help individuals build wealth. Increments of Success Coaching provides a combination of technical training and financial planning, and it guides individuals in the development of SMART goals. The Financial Wellness Village is a 12-week coaching program aimed at helping women thrive during challenging times.
